This year the male members of the choir have signed up to raise money for the ‘Polished Man’ campaign.

They have called their team ‘BUNDY’S POLISHED PUB ROCK CHOIRBOYS’ (click here to view their team page — you can also donate to the Bundy team on that page). One of the great things they are doing is hosting a ‘BUNDY’S POLISHED MEN FUNDRAISER’ right here at Oodies Cafe on Friday the 11th October 2019. The details of the event are below:

• When: Friday 11th October 2019.
• Start Time: The fundraiser will start at 7pm (food available from 5:30pm)

There will be live music, entertainment, raffles, comedy, door prize and information about the Polished Man campaign. Men and women are most welcome.

You can purchase your ticket here. It is only $20. Seating is limited so we recommend booking asap.

What is THE POLISHED MAN Campaign?

The Polished Man campaign is founded by the Australian-based nonprofit YGAP, which aims to raise awareness for victims of childhood abuse. They report that one child dies every 5 minutes as a result of violence. That’s one too many. Any violence against children should not happen. During October they challenge all men and women to take a stand and actively commit to ending violence against children by painting one fingernail. Here are some reasons why they request doing this:

• Fingernails that spark conversations.
• Conversations that inspire donations.
• Donations that allow for trauma recovery and trauma prevention for children around the world.
• Because it shouldn’t hurt to be a child.
• Help end violence against children.

The Choir has been active in the community for 3 years. They have been lucky enough to sing with Moving Pictures while they were in Bundy, John Farnham and recently Glen Shorrock as part of QMF in Brisbane. They have also supported Relay for Life, Childers Festival and others in the community.

It is raining outside and ‘Down Under’ by Men at Work is playing through the newly installed speakers. I am still soo chuffed by these speakers! The amazing team at Pulse Electrical Bundaberg really have touched my heart yet again!

I’ve just looked up from the laptop to see an older gentleman walk in wearing a Peaky Blinders style cap. I luv those caps!! A young family are sitting in front of me, an older couple are enjoying their meals across from my table, others are seated behind me. Last I looked it was nearly full downstairs too.  Myself and our Oodies team absolutely love the diversity and variety of people that come to spend time here at Oodies!!

I’m also looking around at the Christmas decorations we have been putting up over the past few weeks. I feel very ‘festive’ right now. I really do think this is “the most wonderful time of the year.”

The gifts are starting to gather under our Christmas Tree.

I’m also feeling very reflective right now. What a year it has been!! I have just now decided I will write a 2018 ‘year that was’ blog article… but time is limited right atm (I have to get back to helping the staff), so will keep this blog writing session short and start that blog post soon.

From all of use, we want to wish you a very, very Merry Christmas!!  Myself, Jenny and the team also want to thank you for being part of our journey over the past 4 years and especially this year. Thank you soo much! It has been an incredible year! We hope the year has treated you really, really, really great too!

We have the pleasure of meeting so many amazing people every day. When we were opening our cafe four years ago, we wanted to build a place that encouraged community and friendship, and it has been the most inspiring experience meeting so many wonderful people that have helped make an idea a reality.

Today, we would like to shout out to the amazing group of humans at Pulse Electrical Bundaberg. They are an eclectic group of funny, talented, kind and hard working guys and gals, who appreciate our level of crazy and just make us smile… every day.
We love Pulse Electrical that your business has the same family feel as ours and we think you are all awesome!

Pulse Electrical don’t question when we ask them to hang strange lights in random spots… just because. They install lights and then disconnect them, all in the name of ambience. They have saved us from the ongoing frustration that was our kitchen wiring nightmare, and have been ongoing in helping us to reduce our ever growing power bill. Mostly they have taken the time to get to know who we are, not just as individuals but as a business.

Yesterday the guys donated their time to install a very special Christmas gift. The gift of music, in the form of some pretty awesome speakers strategically placed in the ceiling. They came to learn just how much we love our music and how frustrated we were with trying to find the right system to work with our amazing wifi  —  you guys have no idea how this has made us feel. Very overwhelmed indeed. You guys are absolute legends!

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and look forward to another year of random electrical requests. Thanks for being part of our tribe.
